This KeyTiler Preview License (“Preview License”) governs the download, installation, and use of KeyTiler releases identified as Preview Releases.
KeyTiler is provided by Qiu Yu Zhou.
This Preview License applies together with the KeyTiler Terms of Service.
By downloading, installing, or running a Preview Release, you agree to this Preview License and the KeyTiler Terms of Service.
1. Preview Release
A Preview Release is a pre-1.0 release of KeyTiler made available before the Stable Release stage.
Preview is a limited product-development stage intended to validate functionality, compatibility, and user experience before Stable Release.
A Preview Release is not the same product commitment as a Stable Release.
Preview Releases may change substantially as KeyTiler develops.
2. Free Preview
KeyTiler Preview Releases are currently provided without charge.
Preview is not a commercial trial and does not automatically convert into a paid product, subscription, renewal, or other payment obligation.
Using a Preview Release does not require you to purchase a future Stable Release.
Likewise, availability of Preview without charge does not create a right to receive:
- a permanent free version of KeyTiler;
- a future Stable Release without charge;
- a particular Free or Pro plan;
- any specific pricing;
- a subscription or non-subscription pricing model;
- an account system;
- any specific future feature; or
- continuing access to Preview Releases indefinitely.
Commercial terms for Stable Releases, if any, will be published separately.
3. Independent Distribution
Preview Releases may be provided directly through the official KeyTiler website.
A user may obtain a Preview Release from the official website and install it directly on compatible macOS hardware outside the Mac App Store.
Independent Distribution describes how that Preview Release is delivered. It does not create:
- a subscription;
- an account;
- a recurring payment;
- a promise of continuing access; or
- a promise that KeyTiler will be distributed through the Mac App Store.
KeyTiler may change its distribution methods in future releases.
4. License Grant
Subject to this Preview License and the KeyTiler Terms of Service, you are granted a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to download, install, and run an official KeyTiler Preview Release on compatible Mac hardware for its released purpose.
This is a license to use the software. It is not a sale or transfer of ownership.
The license covers only functionality actually included in the Preview Release.
It does not grant rights to unreleased, announced, planned, experimental, or future functionality.
5. macOS Permissions
KeyTiler requires certain macOS permissions to perform window-management actions requested by the user.
You may choose whether to grant those permissions through macOS.
If required permissions are not granted or are later revoked, some KeyTiler functionality may not operate.
Granting a macOS permission does not grant KeyTiler ownership or general control of your Mac.
6. Preview Expiration
Each Preview Release may contain a defined Preview Expiration.
Preview Expiration is a product lifecycle deadline associated with that particular Preview Release.
It is not:
- a subscription expiration;
- a trial charge;
- an automatic renewal;
- an invoice;
- a payment deadline; or
- an agreement to purchase a Stable Release.
After Preview Expiration, the core window-management functionality of that Preview Release may become unavailable.
Limited functionality necessary to identify the installed release, access update information, or migrate to a current release may remain available.
To continue using active KeyTiler functionality after a Preview Release expires, you may need to install a current Preview Release or an applicable Stable Release.
7. Preview Updates and Migration
Preview Releases are temporary development-stage releases and may be replaced by newer Preview Releases.
Where an update mechanism is available, it may be used to obtain a newer compatible release.
If that update path is unavailable, KeyTiler may provide another migration or installation method through an official distribution channel.
The availability of an update or migration path does not create a promise that Preview Releases will continue indefinitely.
KeyTiler may end the Preview stage when the product moves to Stable Release or otherwise changes its release model.
8. Restrictions
Unless KeyTiler expressly gives you permission, this Preview License does not grant you the right to:
- sell, rent, lease, sublicense, or commercially redistribute a Preview Release;
- redistribute the official Preview installation package;
- represent yourself as KeyTiler or as an authorized distributor of KeyTiler;
- represent a Preview Release as a Stable Release;
- remove or falsify ownership, copyright, or other proprietary notices;
- circumvent or intentionally defeat Preview Expiration; or
- use technical measures to obtain rights not granted by this Preview License.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you may not reverse engineer, decompile, or modify KeyTiler for the purpose of circumventing the restrictions of this Preview License.
Nothing in this section restricts rights that cannot lawfully be restricted.
9. Ownership
KeyTiler, including its name, software, code, interface, release materials, documentation, and associated intellectual property, remains the property of Qiu Yu Zhou or the applicable licensors.
Installing or running a Preview Release does not transfer ownership of any part of KeyTiler to you.
You receive only the limited permission to use the Preview Release described in this Preview License.
10. No Commitment to Future Product Features
Preview is an evaluation and product-development stage.
A Preview Release does not create a contractual promise that any particular:
- feature;
- workflow;
- interface;
- integration;
- compatibility behavior;
- pricing model;
- distribution method; or
- product plan
will appear in a Stable Release.
Features included in Preview may be changed, removed, replaced, or redesigned before Stable Release.
11. Availability and Compatibility
A Preview Release may contain defects, incomplete behavior, compatibility limitations, or functionality that changes between releases.
KeyTiler does not promise that a Preview Release will:
- remain available indefinitely;
- operate without interruption or error;
- support every Mac model or configuration;
- remain compatible with future macOS versions; or
- receive updates or support for any particular period.
The general warranty disclaimers and limitations of liability in the KeyTiler Terms of Service also apply to Preview Releases.
12. Termination
Your license to use a Preview Release may terminate if you materially violate this Preview License or the KeyTiler Terms of Service.
Preview Expiration is separate from termination for violation.
A release reaching its Preview Expiration does not mean that you violated this Preview License.
Upon termination for violation, you must stop using the Preview Release to the extent required by applicable law.
13. Relationship to the Terms of Service
The KeyTiler Terms of Service govern general matters relating to KeyTiler.
This Preview License governs the specific rights and restrictions associated with Preview Releases.
If the two documents conflict regarding Preview licensing, Preview Expiration, Preview availability, or Preview-specific use restrictions, this Preview License controls for that issue.
All other applicable provisions of the Terms of Service remain in effect.
